Two of the best players of the last two decades no longer play in Europe with Lionel Messi prolonging his career in the MLS with Inter Miami and Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia. Since 2010, Argentine legend Messi ranks 10th for most appearances in the top five leagues across his spells at Barcelona and PSG with 456 games, while Ronaldo ranks 33rd. We’ve analysed the data to determine the top 50 players with the most appearances in the top five leagues since 2010 and there’s some famous faces on the list.

Which players have made the most appearances in the top five leagues since 2010?

No player has made more appearances across the top five leagues since 2010 than Antoine Griezmann. The France international is incredibly durable and he’s made 488 league appearances across the last 15 years. Griezmann has played the entirety of his club career in La Liga after moving to Spain as a youngster and he’s made 141 appearances for Real Sociedad, 74 for Barcelona and 273 for current club, Atlético Madrid.

As the graphic above illustrates, Italian journeyman Antonio Candreva ranks second with 481 appearances in Serie A. The 37-year-old is still playing with Salernitana and he’s played for eight other clubs in the Italian top flight, including Lazio, Inter Milan and Juventus. Unsurprisingly, four goalkeepers feature in the top ten in Andrea Consigli, Samir Handanović, David de Gea and Oliver Baumann. De Gea has been without a club all season since leaving Manchester United and the Spaniard would have been top of the list – if he had played for a club in the top leagues this season. Bayern Munich legend Thomas Müller ranks 14th, Sergio Busquets 19th and Oliver Giroud at 36th.
