Some of the biggest names in football will be involved for their countries at Euro 2024 across the next month. Supporters from all across Europe will descend on Germany to watch their heroes and the anticipation has reached fever pitch after the tournament kicked off on Friday night with Germany beating Scotland 5-1 in Munich.
Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham, Florian Wirtz and Cristiano Ronaldo are the leading names at the tournament but many famous names will be watching from home – whether that’s through their nations not qualifying, injury or simply not being selected. Erling Haaland and Martin Odegaard are amongst the best players in the Premier League but they won’t be featuring as Norway failed to qualify. With an array of talent missing out, Transfmarket has compiled the most valuable XI not featuring at Euro 2024 based on our market values.
The most valuable XI missing Euro 2024
Despite returning from injury towards the end of the season and keeping a clean sheet in the Champions League final, Thibaut Courtois won’t be at Euro 2024 with Belgium. Courtois declared himself not fit enough to feature and he’s the most valuable goalkeeper missing out at €28 million. Ben White enjoyed an excellent season for Arsenal but he’s not part of the England squad after falling out with Gareth Southgate. Leny Yoro and Levi Colwill are two extremely promising centre-backs – both valued at €50m – but neither have made their respective nation’s squads. Destiny Udogie enjoyed his breakthrough season at Tottenham Hotspur but injury has deprived him of a place in Italy’s squad.
Like Udogie, Barcelona duo Frenkie de Jong and Gavi will miss out due to injury. De Jong had to withdraw from the Netherlands last week after failing to regain full fitness while Gavi has been plagued by injury all season and won’t feature for Spain. Odegaard completes a midfield trio with a combined market value €270m and it would be the envy of most nations at the tournament. Marcus Rashford was left out by Southgate after a dismal season for Manchester United while Christopher Nkunku barely featured for Chelsea due to injury. Manchester City superstar Haaland is the joint most-valuable player in the world at €180m but he will be watching from home. This combined eleven has a combined market value of €803m.
