The summer months can sometimes drag for supporters waiting for their beloved clubs to return to action but that’s not the case this year. It’s a festival of football this summer with two major international tournaments taking place. There’s been a thrilling start to Euro 2024 in Germany and the Copa América gets underway this week in the United States.

The prestigious tournament typically takes place in South America but this is the second time it’s been played in the USA after a special centenary edition in 2016. 16 nations will compete to lift the coveted trophy and it gets underway with reigning champions Argentina taking on Canada. Brazil have the most valuable squad at the tournament but which players involved have the highest market values? Let’s find out!

The most valuable players at the 2024 Copa América?

Vinicius Junior will be the most valuable player at Copa América as the Real Madrid star has a market value of €180m. The Brazilian superstar earned a €30m upgrade in the latest La Liga update after inspiring Real Madrid to another Champions League title and he’s now the joint-most valuable player in the world alongside Jude Bellingham, Kylian Mbappé and Erling Haaland.

As the graphic above illustrates, Vinicius’ Real Madrid teammate Federico Valverde ranks second at €120m. The 25-year-old is a key player for Uruguay and he will be central to their prospects under the tutelage of legendary coach Marcelo Bielsa. Rodrygo and Lautaro Martínez are tied in third at €110m with Manchester City star Julian Alvarez completing the top five most valuable players. Martinez and Alvarez will play pivotal roles for defending champions Argentina alongside captain Lionel Messi but the Inter Miami star is now valued at just €30m as he enters the twilight of his career. Five Premier League players complete the top ten with Bruno Guimaraes ranked 6th at €85m with Colombian duo Moisés Caicedo and Luis Díaz and Argentine duo Enzo Fernández and Alexis Mac Allister all valued at €75m.
