Archie Gray finally completed his move to the Premier League as Tottenham Hotspur announced his arrival on Tuesday morning. The 18-year-old has been on the radar of leading English clubs since named on Leeds United’s bench at just 15 under Marcelo Bielsa. 

Gray possesses a maturity beyond his years and he’s tipped to become a full England international soon. The starlet was virtually ever-present for Leeds last season but they narrowly missed out on promotion and they were forced to cash in on their prized asset. Tottenham invested €41.25m to sign Gray, which makes him the most expensive English teenager in history but where does he rank amongst the most expensive 18 year olds of all time? Let’s find out! 

The most expensive 18 year olds in history

Real Madrid players occupy the top three spots on the list with Endrick the most expensive 18-year-old in history. The Brazilian sensation was snapped up by Madrid in December 2022 but he will finally join his new teammates this summer. Endrick cost Madrid €47.5m and he’s joined by two fellow Brazilians in the top three. 

 As the graphic illustrates, Rodrygo and Vinicius Jr both cost Madrid €45m but it was shrewd business from the Spanish giants. The talented duo have played major roles in helping Madrid win two Champions League titles with Vinicius now the joint most valuable player in the world at €180. Gray ranks 4th in the list and he’s joined by two other Englishman in Luke Shaw and Wayne Rooney – both players joined Manchester United. From the top ten, five players joined Premier League clubs with five Brazilian’s featuring.
