Ivan Toney is poised to depart Brentford in the next two weeks before the end of the transfer window. The 28-year-old was left out of the Bees’ opening day win over Crystal Palace in the Premier League with Thomas Frank revealing that his departure was inevitable.
Frank told Sky Sports: “A lot of things are going on with Ivan, especially with transfers, there’s a lot of transfer interest. Because of all that, we’ve decided not to include him in the squad. I can’t give too much away the day before. Of course Ivan is a top player, we all know that. He has been fantastic for us for four years but we showed last season we can cope without him.” There’s offers for Toney from the Saudi Pro League but could Premier League clubs reignite their interest in the England international?
Why are Brentford selling Ivan Toney?
Toney has been a revelation since joining Brentford for Peterborough in 2020, scoring 72 goals in 41 games. The West London club stood by the striker when he was banned for the majority of last season for betting offences but they are now resigned to losing their prized asset. Toney’s contract expires next summer and Brentford want to cash in this summer to avoid losing him on a free. The Englishman is their most valuable player at €50 million but they could accept a slightly lower offer.

Which clubs could sign Ivan Toney?
Toney is attracting interest from Saudi Pro League clubs with Al-Alhi reportedly having a €41m offer rejected already. Al-Alhi have signed Riyad Mahrez, Roberto Firmino and Edouard Mendy from the Premier League and it’s understood that they’re likely to return with an improved bid.

The finances on offer from Saudi clubs will appeal to Toney, especially given his early career was in the lower English leagues. But leading English clubs could still reignite their interest in the Brentford star with Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United all linked earlier in the transfer window.
