The biggest clubs in the world are always involved in the race to unearth the next Brazilian superstar. There’s enormous appeal in securing the signature of the next South American wonderkid with the hopes they will develop into world class talents.
Real Madrid have enjoyed huge success in scouring Brazil with Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo playing pivotal roles in winning two Champions Leagues across the last two years, while Endrick joined this summer. Barcelona acquired Vitor Roque in January for €40 million but he’s already been loaned out to Real Betis giants however. The Catalan giants, however, haven’t been deterred and they are monitoring Brazilian starlet Kauã Elias with Chelsea also interested.
Who is Kauã Elias?
The 18-year-old is currently playing for Fluminense in Série A and he’s already made an impression in the Brazilian top-flight despite his age. Elias signed his first professional contract in 2021 and it’s understood that Fluminense included a release clause at around €45 million. The starlet made his professional debut in May 2023 but he featured regularly towards the tail end of last season scoring four goals in 22 league appearances across 2024.
Elias has a prolific record for Brazil at youth level, netting nine goals in 12 appearances for the U17s. Elias is viewed as a traditional No.9 and he’s highly regarded in his homeland with the expectation that he will be a future full Brazil international. The €4m valued striker is contracted to the Brazilian club until December 2026 but despite his release clause, it’s understood Fluminense would consider offers around €20m plus add-ons.
Which clubs are interested in Kauã Elias?
Barcelona appear frontrunners to sign Elias although Spanish outlet AS have reported that they fear Chelsea could win the race for his signature. Chelsea have adopted a clear strategy of signing the best young talent and they’ve already targeted the South American market. Brazilian Deivid Washington and Angelo are already at Stamford Bridge while Estevao – the biggest talent of the three – will join next summer after Chelsea agreed a €34m deal with Palmeiras. Arsenal also scouted Elias at the U17 South American championships last year and it was reported in Brazil that sporting director Edu visited Fluminense to discuss the talented striker.
