The intermediary Eliteserien market value update on Transfermarkt was released this afternoon – September 17th – and several talented players received significant updates. Unlike the top European Leagues, the Norwegian top-flight is already 22 games through their season as they adopt a summer league due to the harsh weather conditions in Scandinavia.

Two of the best players in the world are Norwegian with Erling Haaland enjoying an incredible start to the Premier League season, while Martin Ødegaard wears the armband for Arsenal. But there’s one potential star of the future making a major impression in the Eliteserien – Sverre Nypan. The 17-year-old was already the most valuable player in the Norwegian top-flight but he’s received a €2 million upgrade to €11m as major European clubs circle.

Why Manchester United want to sign Sverre Nypan?

Rosenberg starlet Nypan has been on the radar of top European clubs for some time with Manchester United and Bayer Leverkusen linked recently. English giants United have scouted Nypan extensively ahead of a potential move in January or next summer. The attacking midfielder has 14 goal contributions in 25 appearances this season and he impressed against Man United during their pre-season trip to Norway.

“Nypan is a central/offensive midfielder with an exceptionally high football IQ for his age,” said Batian Schmitz, Market Value admin for Norway. “He is two-footed, creative and has a good passing game – many of them are smart passes. He handles the ball well and also has a very good work rate. This season he has been used as a ‘false 9’ and as an attacking midfielder,  although the deeper position suits him much better. His body appears to be still growing and he had a few growing problems at the start of the season which made it harder for him to get going, and has shown fluctuating performances at that time.

“But he’s been in great shape over the last few weeks and it’s no surprise to me that clubs like Manchester United and Leverkusen are interested. Nevertheless, I’m curious to see what his future career plans look like, because even though he is a ‘super talent’, I would find it surprising if he played his way straight into the first team at Manchester United or Leverkusen next season. I think that he would initially be seen as a ‘future project’ and would probably be loaned out for playing time, which is very crucial at that age.”
