The transfer market remains closed until January but clubs are still extremely busy behind the scenes as they plan for future arrivals. Players all around the world will return to their clubs after the international break ahead of a pivotal period of the season, both domestically and in European competition.
Managers will be constantly assessing their squads with sporting directors and recruitment staff scanning the market for potential deals in the upcoming market. A plethora of players will be unhappy with their lack of minutes with their agents aiming to secure them a move to ensure first-team football for the second half of the season. The rumour mill is beginning to pick up pace and we’ve collated some of the biggest current transfer stories.
Mohamed Salah highlighted his importance to Liverpool at the weekend with a brace in the 3-2 win over Southampton. But the Egyptian winger has provided the biggest indication that he will leave Anfield when his contract expires next summer as he expressed his disappointment over not receiving a new contact offer. “We are almost in December and I haven’t received an offer to stay at the club yet so I am probably more out than in,” Salah told NBC. “I love the fans and the fans love me but in the end it is not in my hands or the fans hands.”
Elsewhere, Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly set to reignite their interest in Marcus Rashford in January. The Manchester United star has struggled to recapture his best form over the last two seasons and the French champions could make a bid. Chelsea have joined Arsenal in the race to sign Alexander Isak with Newcastle United hoping the Swedish striker commits his future to the club.
Arda Güler could be allowed to leave Real Madrid on-loan in January with Arsenal and Aston Villa two potential suitors. Reports in Spain suggest that Newcastle United could offer Sergio Ramos a short-term deal with the Real Madrid legend still without a club. Meanwhile, West Ham United will continue their attempts to sign Botafogo striker Igor Jesus in January.
