The transfer market remains closed until January but clubs are still extremely busy behind the scenes as they plan for future arrivals. Players all around the world have returned to their clubs after the international break for a pivotal period of the season, both domestically and in European competition.
Managers will be constantly assessing their squads with sporting directors and recruitment staff scanning the market for potential deals in the upcoming market. A plethora of players will be unhappy with their lack of minutes with their agents aiming to secure them a move to ensure first-team football for the second half of the season. The rumour mill is beginning to pick up pace and we’ve collated some of the biggest current transfer stories.
Liverpool are reportedly monitoring Rodrygo with the Brazilian expressing his frustration due to his reduced role at Real Madrid after Kylian Mbappé’s arrival. The Anfield club could be in the market for a new right-winger this summer with Mohamed Salah’s future up in the air.
The Reds also have an interest in Bryan Mbuemo with Arsenal, Aston Villa and Newcastle United also monitoring the Brentford star. Meanwhile, Manchester United have emerged as potential suitors for Frankfurt sensation Omar Marmoush with the Bundesliga side settling on a €50 million price tag.
United are also in the market for a new left-back with Theo Hernández the latest player to be linked. The AC Milan’s star contract runs until 2026 and he could seek a new challenge. United have also been linked with Napoli’s Khvicha Kvaratskhelia as the Italian’s could sell next summer as he looks unlikely to sign a new contract. Lastly, Newcastle United have emerged as potential destination for Paul Pogba with the French superstar agreeing a mutual termination with Juventus but a move to the Magpies remains highly unlikely.
