The loan market seems to be becoming more and more integral within top level football. Once more of a type of transfer associated with sending younger stars out to develop, perhaps at lower leagues, some of the very best teams are now bringing in players on loan. And some of the very best stars are heading out on loan moves. Due to modern financial fair play restrictions, clubs often have to balance the books and may not be able to afford to pay straight away for a player – instead loaning the footballer with an option or obligation to buy in the future.

Big clubs also have the ever-increasing problem of having stars on huge wages that aren’t playing regularly, with a loan move for this type of player sometimes able to relieve at least some of the burden of the lucrative salary. This January, we have already seen some top players heading out on loan such as Randal Kolo Muani heading from PSG to Juventus on a six-month loan deal. But who are the most valuable players currently out on loan from their parent clubs? Some top talents feature.

The most valuable players currently out on loan

In first place as the most valuable player currently on loan from his parent club is Dutch talent Xavi Simons. The 21 year old is on loan from PSG to RB Leipzig and boasts a current market value of €80 million. In second place is one of the most high-profile loan moves of all-time in Victor Osimhen’s loan from Napoli to Galatasaray. The Nigerian striker has a market value of €75m. In third place is goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, who Liverpool bought for €30m in the summer before loaning him back to Valencia  – the Georgian’s market value is currently €40m. In fourth and fifth come a pair of stars who are on loan at Juventus; Francisco Conceição and Nico González are both worth €35m and on loan to the Turin giants from Porto and Fiorentina respectively.

In sixth is Moroccan defender Nayef Aguerd – worth €35m and on loan at Real Sociedad from West Ham. Seventh goes to a player who has gone the other way – Jean-Clair Todibo has a market value of €32m and is on loan with the Hammers from Ligue 1 side Nice. Ivorian defender Odilon Kossounou is eighth – currently on loan at Atalanta from Bayer Leverkusen and worth €30m. The aforementioned Kolo Muani takes ninth spot with a market value of €30m, and completing the top 10 is Jadon Sancho – the Englishman is on loan at Chelsea from Manchester United and worth €30m.
