Transfermarkt recently released their market value updates for all the major leagues around the world – with just the MLS remaining. Thousands of players across the globe had their valuations upgraded and downgraded based on their form over the last few months. Transfermarkt’s market values are famed and have been cited by some of the biggest football clubs on the planet, and regularly by media organisations across every continent.
The March updates are the last of the league season for all major European divisions. The spotlight often lands on the top five leagues – Premier League, LaLiga, Serie A, Ligue 1 and the Bundesliga – as they feature the most valuable players. As the final market values of the 2024/25 season have been released for these leagues, we can now calculate which clubs’ squads have gained the most market value across the current campaign!
Which clubs gained the most market value across the 2024/25 season?
The €189m increase in Ipswich Town’s market value across the 2024/25 season is the largest of any club across the top five leagues. The value of Ipswich’s squad has skyrocketed by €207% from €91.15m at the start of the Premier League season to its current valuation of €279.6m – they’ve also leapfrogged the other two promoted sides, Southampton and Leicester. Naturally, Ipswich’s rise is due to their promotion to the English top-flight and several players showing their good enough to play at that level, with Liam Delap receiving the biggest upgrade from €8m to €38m.
As the graphic above illustrates, Barcelona ranks second (+€189m) and that’s testament to several talented youngsters enjoying excellent seasons. Lamine Yamal, Pau Cubarsí and Pedri have all received deserved upgrades with Hansi Flick’s men favourites to win the La Liga title. Strasbourg sit third (+€118m) with the French club boasting the youngest squad in Europe this season and handing the most minutes to U21 players – you can read a detailed feature on them here. Fulham and Nottingham Forest have both enjoyed excellent seasons in the Premier League and complete the top five.
