The January transfer window is now little more than a distant memory in European football and as such clubs across the continent are already making plans for the summer window. Teams are working tirelessly behind the scenes on identifying targets and figuring out their budgets.
Managers will be constantly assessing their squads with sporting directors and recruitment staff scanning the market for potential deals. A plethora of players will become available in the summer where clubs famously have more money to spend and aren’t as restricted by financial fair play rules. The rumour mill is beginning to pick up pace and we’ve collated some of the biggest current transfer stories.
Today’s biggest transfer stories
Chelsea are braced for an offer from Al-Nassr to sign Moises Caicedo in the summer. The Ecuadorian has arguably been the Blues’ star performer this season but he’d cost in excess of around €120 million. It remains unclear if Caicedo would be enticed by the finances on offer in the Middle East.
Juventus want to bring Sandro Tonali back to Italy this summer. Tonali departed AC Milan to join Newcastle United for €59m in 2023 and the Magpies are unlikely to sanction a sale this summer with Champions League qualification increasingly unlikely.
Marcus Rashford is hopeful that his performances for Aston Villa will attract interest from major European clubs this summer. Villa can sign Rashford permanently for €50m but that will hinge on whether they can qualify for the Champions League. It’s understood that Barcelona remains Rashford’s dream destination.
