The summer transfer window is growing ever closer on the horizon for many of the biggest players in European football and as such clubs across the continent are already making plans for the summer window. Teams are working tirelessly behind the scenes on identifying targets and figuring out their budgets.

Managers will be constantly assessing their squads with sporting directors and recruitment staff scanning the market for potential deals. A plethora of players will become available in the summer where clubs famously have more money to spend and aren’t as restricted by financial fair play rules. The rumour mill is beginning to pick up pace and we’ve collated some of the biggest current transfer stories.

Today’s biggest transfer stories

Liverpool have joined the race to sign Florian Wirtz this summer. The 22-year-old is expected to depart Bayer Leverkusen in the coming months and that’s alerted several of Europe’s biggest clubs. Bayern Munich and Manchester City have a long standing interest in Wirtz but Liverpool also want to sign the €140 million star.

Manchester United, Tottenham and Bayern Munich are all reportedly keen on signing Cristiano Júnior. The son of Cristiano Ronaldo made his Portugal U-15 debut on Thursday and he’s currently in the youth ranks of Saudi club Al-Nassr.

Meanwhile, Inter Milan are weighing up a summer move for Joshua Zirkzee. The Netherlands forward has endured an indifferent campaign since joining Manchester United from Bologna. And Inter Milan could offer Zirkzee a pathway back to Italy, although he’s expressed his desire to remain at Old Trafford.
