Transfermarkt has updated the market values of the Mexican Liga MX , re-evaluating more than 400 players. The biggest winner is Toluca’s winger Alexis Vega. The 27-year-old international has recorded his third consecutive rise, increasing his market value from €8 million to €10 million. This puts the attacker at the top of the market value rankings, displacing Polish star Mateusz Bogusz of Cruz Azul.
The latter’s valuation fell by €2.5m as a result of the update, the largest in the league, and is now valued at €7.5m. The 23-year-old moved to Mexico from MLS club LAFC in January. In 14 matches since then, he has scored just one goal and provided two assists. This is the attacking midfielder’s first drop in value since December 2022, when Bogusz was still valued at €1m and playing for Spanish island club UD Ibiza.
The lively right-footer Vega, on the other hand, has continued his market value increase of the past few months, even catapulting it to his career high. His record of 29 goals in 41 competitive matches speaks for itself. The Toluca homegrown player has thus been largely responsible for the club’s strong season, which has resulted in six other players from Argentinian coach Antonio Mohamed‘s squad seeing a market value increase – a total increase in Toluca’s squad value of €2.3m.
Mohamed recently expressed his delight at having “a number of young talents” in his squad who are eager for titles. His team has played “exciting, open football” throughout the year, said the coach, who had special praise for star player Vega: “We all look to his game. He’s in top form.” Vega, whose exact contract length is not yet officially known, is also highly regarded for his performances at 2024 treble winners Club América.
CF América also boasts one of the biggest winners of the update in winger Álex Zendejas. The eleven-time US international’s value increases from €7m to €8m after contributing 24 goals to his team. The second-biggest increase after Vega is Amaury Morales of Cruz Azul (+€1.3m to €2.5m). The 19-year-old attacking talent was promoted from the U23s at the beginning of the year and scored five goals in 30 games. América, Cruz Azul, and Toluca continue to be the three most valuable squads in the Mexican top flight. While Tigres (-€4.5m) lost the most value, FC Juárez saw the biggest gain in squad value.
How Transfermarkt market values work
The Transfermarkt market values are calculated, taking into account various pricing models. A major factor is the Transfermarkt community, whose members discuss and evaluate player market values in detail. In general, the Transfermarkt market values are not to be equated with transfer fees.
The goal is not to predict a price but an expected value of a player in a free market. Both individual transfer modalities and situational conditions are relevant in determining market values. Examples of this are listed below. Transfermarkt does not use an algorithm (you can find the detailed market value definition here).
