The special transfer window has open temporarily until June 10th with clubs able to sign players ahead of the Club World Cup. The biggest clubs in European football and clubs across the continent are already making plans for next season. Teams are working tirelessly behind the scenes on identifying targets and figuring out their budgets.
Managers will be constantly assessing their squads with sporting directors and recruitment staff scanning the market for potential deals. A plethora of players will become available in the summer where clubs famously have more money to spend and aren’t as restricted by financial fair play rules. The rumour mill is beginning to pick up pace and we’ve collated some of the biggest current transfer stories.
Today’s biggest transfer stories
Manchester City winger Jack Grealish is reportedly being lined up as a potential replacement for 22-year-old German midfielder Florian Wirtz at Bayer Leverkusen. The German side have joined Everton, Newcastle and other teams in the race for the 29-year-old. The England international has fallen out of favour with Pep Guardiola and is expected to leave this summer.
Tottenham have stepped up their interest in Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo, while Manchester United also remain admirers of the Ghanian winger. He scored 11 Premier League goals last season and has a current market value of €40 million.
According to reports in France, Paris-Saint-Germain want Bournemouth centre-back Ilya Zabarni this summer, but the Cherries are demanding around €70m for the 22-year-old Ukrainian. He has a market value of €42m.
Newcastle are reportedly keen on signing West Ham winger Mohammed Kudus after missing out on Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo. The Ghanian struggled at the London stadium last season but has huge potential and reports suggest the Hammers are willing to negotiate for the attacker.
