The summer transfer window is officially open with clubs now able to add new signings to their squad. The biggest clubs in European football and clubs across the continent are already making plans for next season. Teams are working tirelessly behind the scenes on identifying targets and figuring out their budgets.

Managers will be constantly assessing their squads with sporting directors and recruitment staff scanning the market for potential deals. A plethora of players will become available in the summer where clubs famously have more money to spend and aren’t as restricted by financial fair play rules. Manchester United are in desperate need of more firepower this summer and new reports suggest they could turn to Aston Villa for help. According to the Athletic, the Old Trafford club have placed Ollie Watkins on their list of potential striker recruits if the club are intent on making big changes to their forward line this summer.

With the arrival of Florian Wirtz, Liverpool may need to make space in their squad this summer and that could mean the departure of Luis Díaz. The winger has been linked to a number of clubs, but according to Sky Germany, Bayern Munich have now joined the race to sign the forward as they look to fill the gap left by the departing Leroy Sané.
