World club football’s elite competition is now getting serious. We now know the final 16 teams in this season’s Champions League, with the knockout draw revealed this Friday. We will not only find out who each team will face in the round of 16, but also work out their entire route to June’s final in Budapest. There are eight seeded teams who finished in the top eight of the league phase: Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Tottenham, Barcelona, Chelsea, Sporting and Manchester City.

Then there are eight unseeded teams who progressed through their play-off ties this week: Paris-Saint Germain, Real Madrid, Newcastle, Galatasaray, Atalanta, Bayer Leverkusen, Atlético Madrid and BødoGlimt. The seeded teams are split into sets of two depending on where they finished in the league phases table. For example: Arsenal and Bayern Munich are one and two and will be on opposite sides of the draw. Former Barcelona and Croatia midfielder Ivan Rakitic will be doing the draw.
