Watkins moves up

We often see players have one or two prolific seasons in the Premier League. Michu in 2012/13 for Swansea. Benni McCarthy in 2006/07 for Blackburn. But consistently producing goalscoring numbers in the English top-flight is a real sign of longevity and status. England striker Ollie Watkins hit a brace in Aston Villa’s thrilling 4-3 win over Sunderland this weekend to take his tally to 11 Premier League goals this season.
It means he has hit 10+ league goals in every season since he joined the Midlands club. In turn, Watkins has climbed up the list of players with the most consecutive 10+ goal seasons in Premier League history, but where does he rank and who are those ahead of him? Here at Transfermarkt, we have compiled the list of the top 15 players. Players that are level on seasons have been ranked by the most goals scored within those campaigns.
Most consecutive 10+ goal Premier League seasons
Leading the way is none other than Wayne Rooney. The Englishman hit 10+ Premier League goals for 11 consecutive seasons between 2004/05 and 2014/15, scoring 170 goals across those campaigns. In second position, made even more impressive by the fact he was a midfielder, is Frank Lampard. He scored 10+ goals for 10 seasons in-a-row for Chelsea between 2003/04 and 2012/13. Third goes to Harry Kane, who scored 10+ goals for nine consecutive seasons for Tottenham, bagging a whopping 210 goals in the process. He beats fourth-placed Sergio Agüero, who also managed nine seasons in-a-row, but with only 180 goals.

There are then four players with eight 10+ goal Premier League seasons in-a-row: Mohamed Salah (184 goals), Thierry Henry (174), Heung-min Son (116) and Sadio Mané (111). Four further players then managed seven consecutive seasons: Jamie Vardy (128), Michael Owen (117), Romelu Lukaku (113) and Robbie Keane (91). Watkins (86) now joins Ian Wright (101) and Dion Dublin (84) on six seasons in-a-row scoring 10+ goals and ranks in between that pair on total goals scored.
