Relegation is often considered a horrid scenario that the weakest teams often have to struggle with for much of the season. Still, when it comes to Europe’s biggest leagues, there are a number of big clubs and legitimate stars that are facing the very real prospect of going down in the next few weeks. In the Premier League, two goliaths of the English game in Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham are still not safe from the prospect of dropping into the Championship, while other European giants like Seville, Wolfsburg and Nice could all still go down before the end of the season.

That, undoubtedly, is a nightmare scenario for fans of those clubs. But, in the competitive world of football, that also provides an opportunity for other clubs to swoop in and sign players when their clubs are facing the financial hardship of dropping out of the top-flight. And as this season’s strugglers have clearly illustrated, there are a number of top players who could be relegated this season and be looking for a move in the summer.

So let’s take a look at the most valuable players that have either been relegated or still face the threat of relegation before the end of the season.
