Avoid defeat vs City & Arsenal are champions

As we approach the end of the 2025/26 campaign, nerves are on the edge. One error could cost a whole season’s work and fine margins can decide the biggest titles in football. But for some teams, they have pulled out their most formidable form when it matters most and almost forgotten what it’s like to taste defeat. None more so than high-flying Bournemouth. The Cherries are in sixth position in the Premier League, and can guarantee at least Europa League football with a draw this Tuesday. A win means they can dream of the Champions League.
However, they are facing none other than title-fighting Manchester City, and with the news that Pep Guardiola is set to leave at the end of the season, expect the players to give everything to give their heroic boss the dream send off. Anything less than a win for the Sky Blues hands Arsenal their first Premier League title in 22 years. Nevertheless, facing the Cherries has been an almightily tough task this calendar year – in fact they are unbeaten since January. With this in mind, here at Transfermarkt, we have compiled a list of the teams who are currently on the longest unbeaten streaks in Europe’s top five leagues (Premier League, LaLiga, Bundesliga, Ligue 1, Serie A), and the team leading the way may cause some surprise.
The longest unbeaten streaks in the top five leagues
Incredibly, leading the way are Bournemouth. Andoni Iraola’s team have gone on an incredible 16-game unbeaten run, which has seen them shoot up the table to sixth place. They last tasted league defeat in January in a 3-2 home defeat to Arsenal. Manager Iraola has already announced his decision to leave the club in the summer. Perhaps, one he might now be starting to regret. In second place, having gone 15 matches unbeaten in Germany are Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich, who have only been beaten once in the league this season: a 2-1 home defeat to Augsburg in January. Despite the title race now being out of their hands, Manchester City have gone 14 games unbeaten since losing the Manchester derby in January. Draws have been their kryptonite.

This season’s Serie A champions Inter Milan are nine league games without defeat and take fourth spot. Newly-promoted Leeds are impressively fifth having gone eight Premier League games unbeaten since March. Roma and Rayo Vallecano share sixth position, having both gone six league fixtures without tasting defeat.
