Lamine Yamal has enjoyed an extraordinary start to his career with the Barcelona superstar already one of the best players in the world. Transfermarkt has ranked Yamal as the most valuable player in the world at €200m and there’s still room for development to reach his full potential. The 18-year-old has already collected numerous impressive records during his fledging career for club and country.

Yamal became Barcelona’s youngest ever player when he debuted against Real Betis in April 2023 and the records have continued to tumble. The winger also became Barcelona’s youngest ever player in the Champions League and the youngest scorer ever in LaLiga. And Yamal broke another record in the Champions League when he featured, and scored, in the 6-1 win over Olympiacos on Tuesday night.

Youngest players to reach 25 Champions League goals

Yamal is now the youngest player to reach 25 appearances in the Champions League, reaching the milestone aged 18 years, three months and eight days. The Spanish international has six goals and seven assists already in the most illustrious club competition and Barca are amongst the favourites to lift the trophy this season.

As the graphic above illustrates, Yamal eclipsed the record previous set for PSG’s Warren Zaïre-Emery by almost eight months. There’s some famous players in the top ten list with Cesc Fàbregas completing the top three, after hitting the landmark with Arsenal. Kylian Mbappé reached stardom in the competition with Monaco and he ranks sixth with Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham in seventh.
