Experience is a word often bandied about in football. Particularly on the biggest occasions. Having players who have been there and done it can often be a recipe for success. Whether that’s having won the Champions League, the Premier League or the World Cup, having those achievements on your CV is always going to look attractive to interested clubs. They will hope that winning mentality can be transferred into their dressing room.
With this in mind, here at Transfermarkt, we have delved into the data to take a look at how many major trophies have been won by the players in each current Premier League squad. For the purposes of this, we have only counted major trophies as: any top-five league title, any top-five league major domestic cup, the Champions League, the Europa League, the World Cup and the European Championships.
Which Premier League squads contain most trophy winners?
Leading the way, according to Transfermarkt data, are Pep Guardiola’s trophy-winning juggernauts Manchester City. Between their first-team squad, they have won as many as 106 trophies, with 17 current players having won a major trophy. The most trophy-glittered of them all is the experienced midfielder Bernardo Silva, who has won 14 of the trophies in question. In second place is last season’s Premier League champions Liverpool, with 20 members of their squad major trophy winners, combining for a total of 74 trophies. Third goes to last season’s Europa League winners Tottenham with 44 trophies between their squad and 27 of the roster having won at least one.

In fourth place are Manchester United with 43 trophies – Casemiro is the main contributor with 11. Chelsea take fifth with 30 trophies – mainly gathered by ‘bomb squad’ member Raheem Sterling, who has won 10 trophies. In sixth position is FA Cup champions Crystal Palace with a total of 28, mainly generated by the current squad because of last term’s triumph at Wembley. In seventh is last season’s EFL Cup champions Newcastle with 26 trophies.
Current Premier League leaders Arsenal are now all the way down in eighth with just 26 trophies between their squad. Nine of those come from striker Gabriel Jesus, who won nine trophies with Man City. Aston Villa are ninth with 23 trophies from eight stars. Completing the top 10 are newly-promoted Burnley, who boast 18 trophies from four players, with Kyle Walker by far the biggest contributor with 13. Wolves are at the bottom of the table with just one trophy from goalkeeper Sam Johnstone.
