A plethora of household names have made themselves unavailable for their nations to recuperate and ensure their optimum fitness levels for their club. Bukayo Saka, Cole Palmer and Phil Foden dropped out the England squad while Lamine Yamal won’t feature for Spain through injury.

Which U21 stars have the most goal contributions across the top five leagues?
It’s no surprise that the aforementioned Yamal ranks first with the 17-year-old showcasing why he’s regarded as the biggest talent in the world. After a breakout Euro 2024 with Spain in the summer, Yamal has continued his excellence with Barcelona. The Catalan giants have enjoyed a brilliant start under the German with Yamal pivotal, contributing six goals and eight assists across 14 games. Three of the top five players are valued at over €100 million with Bundesliga duo Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz joining Yamal.
Musiala has been Bayern Munich’s standout performer with nine goals and four assists with Wirtz providing nine goal contributions for Bayer Leverkusen. Alejandro Garnacho has been in the headlines recently for refusing to celebrate scoring after abuse for fans but the Argentina international ranks third with seven goals and four assists – although six have arrived in the League Cup. Garnacho is joined by Premier League duo Jhon Durán and Liam Delap while Francisco Conceição is the only Serie A entry in the top ten with João Neves the lone man from Ligue 1.
