The transfer market remains closed until January but clubs are still extremely busy behind the scenes as they plan for future arrivals. Players all around the world will return to their clubs after the international break ahead of a pivotal period of the season, both domestically and in European competition.
Managers will be constantly assessing their squads with sporting directors and recruitment staff scanning the market for potential deals in the upcoming market. A plethora of players will be unhappy with their lack of minutes with their agents aiming to secure them a move to ensure first-team football for the second half of the season. The rumour mill is beginning to pick up pace and we’ve collated some of the biggest current transfer stories.
Liverpool are reportedly exploring a deal to sign Rayan Cherki with Lyon holding out for around €30 million for the Frenchman. Cherki has been on the radar of top European clubs for several years due to his incredible technical ability and Anfield chiefs could make their move in January.
Liverpool have also been linked with Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo with Newcastle United also holding an interest. Mbuemo has enjoyed a brilliant start to the season and Brentford won’t allow their prized asset to leave unless they receive a substantial offer. Manchester United remain frontrunners for Norwegian sensation Sverre Nypan but the Rosenborg sensation doesn’t want to move without guarantees over first-team football.
New United boss Ruben Amorim is eyeing a reunion with Geovany Quenda with leading agent Jorge Mendes trying to secure a big move for the Sporting CP star. Meanwhile, Chelsea and Barcelona are battling to snap up the signature of Santos left-back Joao Victor de Souza. The left-back is viewed as one of the brightest young defensive talents in Brazil and a January deal has been mooted.
