The transfer market remains closed until January but clubs are still extremely busy behind the scenes as they plan for future arrivals. There’s now less than one month until the winter window opens and clubs are already working tirelessly behind the scenes on identifying targets to sign or loan.
Managers will be constantly assessing their squads with sporting directors and recruitment staff scanning the market for potential deals in the upcoming market. A plethora of players will be unhappy with their lack of minutes with their agents aiming to secure them a move to ensure first-team football for the second half of the season. The rumour mill is beginning to pick up pace and we’ve collated some of the biggest current transfer stories.
Today’s biggest transfer stories
Manchester United will reportedly entertain offers for Marcus Rashford in the January window. The England international has failed to recapture his best form across the last 18 months and United could look to sell to raise funds with Rashford amongst their biggest earners.
Arsenal will reportedly back Mikel Arteta in the January transfer market with his squad impact by injuries this season. Dušan Vlahović remains a long-term target for the North London club and Arsenal could test Juventus’ resolve next month. Nico Williams remains keen on a move to Barcelona with a mooted deal last summer falling through for the Athletic Club winger.
Club Brugge centre-back Joel Ordonez is attracting interest from several English Premier League clubs with Liverpool. Manchester City have reportedly identified Juventus full-back Andrea Cambiaso as their long-term replacement for Kyle Walker with City also still monitoring Jeremie Frimpong. Meanwhile, Wolves have made a €5 million offer to lure Jose Mourinho away from Fenerbahce, according to reports in Gary O’Neil.
