Aston Villa have completed the signing of Spanish winger Marco Asensio on loan from Paris St-Germain until the end of the season. The 29 year old scored seven goals in 47 appearances for PSG, since joining from boyhood club Real Madrid in 2023. He is a three-time Champions League winner with Madrid, and also won the French title with the Parisians last season. Asensio joins Marcus Rashford at Villa Park, after the English forward completed a loan move to the Midlands club on Sunday. Villa sold Colombia striker Jhon Duran to Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr in a €77m deal.

Asensio has made 38 caps for Spain, and has a current market value of €20m. Back in 2018, he received a career-high market value of €90m during his time with Los Blancos. Villa boss Unai Emery said his side “need new players” following Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at Wolves, which left the club eighth in the Premier League. The Midlands club finished in the top eight of the new Champions League group stage to qualify for the last 16. This season, Asensio has played just 34% of possible minutes for PSG in Ligue 1 this season, and will be looking for game-time at Villa Park.
