The January transfer window is now little more than a distant memory in European football and as such clubs across the continent are already making plans for the summer window. Teams are working tirelessly behind the scenes on identifying targets and figuring out their budgets.

Managers will be constantly assessing their squads with sporting directors and recruitment staff scanning the market for potential deals. A plethora of players will become available in the summer where clubs famously have more money to spend and aren’t as restricted by financial fair play rules. The rumour mill is beginning to pick up pace and we’ve collated some of the biggest current transfer stories.

Today’s biggest transfer stories

Real Madrid have reportedly made Alexis Mac Allister their dream target as they eye a new midfielder. The Argentina international has been one of the stars of Liverpool’s title winning season and it would take an eye-watering bid in excess of €100m for the Anfield hierarchy to consider a sale.

Wrexham have identified Jonny Evans as a potential key signing ahead of their English Championship journey next season. The Welsh side achieved their third consecutive promotion last weekend and will compete in the second tier of English football next season. Evans is out of contract at Manchester United this summer and is expected to depart.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa and Newcastle United could battle for the signature of Lazio star Matteo Guendouzi. The midfielder has experience of the Premier League from his time at Arsenal and he’s been a leading player for Lazio this season.
