The January transfer window is now little more than a distant memory in European football and as such clubs across the continent are already making plans for the summer window. Teams are working tirelessly behind the scenes on identifying targets and figuring out their budgets.

Managers will be constantly assessing their squads with sporting directors and recruitment staff scanning the market for potential deals. A plethora of players will become available in the summer where clubs famously have more money to spend and aren’t as restricted by financial fair play rules. The rumour mill is beginning to pick up pace and we’ve collated some of the biggest current transfer stories.

Today’s biggest transfer stories

Al-Hilal will reportedly make a move for Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes this summer. Fernandes has been a top target for Saudi Pro League clubs and reports suggest that there’s been talks with the Portugal international’s representatives.

Real Madrid have made William Saliba their top target this summer. Madrid need to strengthen their options at centre-back and Saliba is widely regarded as one of the best in the world. Saliba’s contract runs until 2027 and Arsenal won’t want to lose one of their prized assets.

Arsenal, Man City and Liverpool are the three Premier League clubs most likely to activate Dean Huijsen’s release clause. The Spanish international can be signed for €60m this summer and that figure won’t deter several suitors.
