Latest transfer news: Cristiano Ronaldo to leave Al-Nassr as Chelsea target Hugo Ekitike

The summer transfer window is growing ever closer on the horizon for many of the biggest players in European football and as such clubs across the continent are already making plans for the summer window. Teams are working tirelessly behind the scenes on identifying targets and figuring out their budgets.

Managers will be constantly assessing their squads with sporting directors and recruitment staff scanning the market for potential deals. A plethora of players will become available in the summer where clubs famously have more money to spend and aren’t as restricted by financial fair play rules. The rumour mill is beginning to pick up pace and we’ve collated some of the biggest current transfer stories. 

Today’s biggest transfer stories 

Cristiano Ronaldo has dropped a major hint that he’s set to depart Al-Nassr. The Portuguese legend posted a cryptic message on social media stating ‘the chapter is over’. Ronaldo has yet to pen a new contract with the Saudi Pro League club and it expires next month.

Chelsea hold a genuine interest in Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitiké. The Blues will strengthen their attacking options this summer and Ekitike has emerged as a genuine target. The French U21 international has enjoyed a brilliant season at Frankfurt but his prize tag could deter clubs. 

Newcastle United are targeting Brighton and Hove Albion striker João Pedro. The Magpies will look to bolster their squad after securing qualification for the Champions League. Pedro has interest from numerous Premier League clubs but Newcastle has emerged as a potential destination.
