Latest transfer news: Nkunku close to Chelsea exit, Man Utd eye Wharton

The summer transfer window is now in its final few weeks and many sides are still on the hunt for new signings. The biggest clubs in European football and clubs across the continent are still midway through their plans for next season. Teams are working tirelessly behind the scenes on identifying targets and figuring out their budgets.

Managers will be constantly assessing their squads with sporting directors and recruitment staff scanning the market for potential deals. A plethora of players will become available in the summer where clubs famously have more money to spend and aren’t as restricted by financial fair play rules. Christopher Nkunku has verbally agreed personal terms with Bayern Munich and is now waiting for the the Bundesliga champions to find a compromise on a fee with his club Chelsea. The Blues have snubbed a loan offer, however, and are only prepared to accept a permanent exit.

Manchester United are reportedly weighing up a bid for Crystal Palace starlet Adam Wharton after being priced out of a move for Carlos Baleba, report talkSPORT. The 21-year-old midfielder is also a rumoured target for Real Madrid, having impressed since arriving from Blackburn in 2024.

Manchester City defender Rico Lewis has turned down the chance to join Nottingham Forest after talks with head coach Pep Guardiola. Reports say Forest offered to double his weekly salary after lodging a €30million bid, but Lewis, 20, is keen to remain at the Etihad Stadium.
