Latest transfer news: Real Madrid chase Florian Wirtz as Barcelona hold Rashford talks

The summer transfer window is growing ever closer on the horizon for many of the biggest players in European football and as such clubs across the continent are already making plans for the summer window. Teams are working tirelessly behind the scenes on identifying targets and figuring out their budgets.

Managers will be constantly assessing their squads with sporting directors and recruitment staff scanning the market for potential deals. A plethora of players will become available in the summer where clubs famously have more money to spend and aren’t as restricted by financial fair play rules. The rumour mill is beginning to pick up pace and we’ve collated some of the biggest current transfer stories. 

Today’s biggest transfer stories 

Real Madrid haven’t abandoned their pursuit of Florian Wirtz, according to reports in Spain. The Germany international will depart Bayer Leverkusen this summer and he’s expected to join Liverpool. There’s been reports that a move to Anfield is almost finalised but Madrid remain interested with Wirtz’s former Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso replacing Carlo Ancelotti. 

Marcus Rashford’s agent has met with Barcelona to discuss a move. The Manchester United star has no future at Old Trafford under Ruben Amorim and they will try to sell him this summer. Rashford enjoyed a positive loan spell at Aston Villa and his preference is a move to the Spanish champions. 

Chelsea are reportedly winning the race to sign Liam Delap. The Ipswich Town has several suitors in the English Premier League, who are all willing to activated his €38m release clause this summer. Manchester United, Newcastle United and Everton have been linked but Chelsea are ow the favourites.
