The Premier League season is over and the summer transfer window beckons, but before we get too excited about the big money moves that will surely keep us entertained during the off-season, let’s take one final look back at what was a fantastic campaign in the English top-flight and the players that made it so special. And a perfect way to do exactly that is taking a look at which Premier League stars won the most votes in our Player of the Season awards. On Wednesday we confirmed that Transfermarkt users picked Liverpool star Mohamed Salah as their Premier League player of the season for the 2024/25 campaign. But which other players garnered support from our users and how would an entire starting XI of fan favourites look? Let’s take a look.

We start in goal, where there was a rather heated contest between three goalkeepers: Arsenal’s David Raya, Nottingham Forest shot-stopper Matz Sels and Liverpool’s Alisson. As we can see, the Anfield star won the category, with Alisson claiming just under 50% of the total votes. Raya came second with 28.9% of the votes, with Sels coming third with a respectable 13% of the vote. In defence, it was another Liverpool star that led the way, with central defender Virgil Van Dijk claiming no less than 56% of the vote among all defenders. Remarkably, in second place was another Liverpool star in Trent Alexander-Arnold, who won just over 18% of the vote. In third place was Arsenal central defender Gabriel Magalhães, who won just over 12% of the vote and was joined by teammate Jurrien Timber.

In midfield, we have another clean sweep from Arne Slot’s English champions, with Ryan Gravenberch (14%) and Alexis Mac Allister (29.7%) faring well among all Transfermarkt users, but the midfielder that earned the most votes in the Premier League was none other than Chelsea star Cole Palmer, who won an impressive 42% of all the votes cast for midfielders in this season’s awards. They’re joined by an attacking trio of outstanding forward players, with Manchester City forward Erling Haaland winning just under 8% of the vote in the striker category, beaten by the smaller margins by Newcastle goalscorer Alexander Isak who laid claim to just over 9% of the vote. But, as previously noted, nobody won more votes than Salah over the course of the general voting and that was also perfectly evident in the striker’s category too, with the Anfield talisman hoovering up a remarkable 79% of the votes.
