The youngest goalscorers for the Brazilian national team - Estêvão moves into top 10

Brazil have always been a nation synonymous with the beautiful game. They have won five World Cups – more than any other country – and they usually win it in style. Famous for tricks, flicks and samba football, Brazil are one of the most glamorous footballing nations, and have produced an abundance of generational talents down the years.

Many of these stars have shone through at an early age for the Brazilian national team. From Pelé to Ronaldo, Neymar to Ronaldinho, many future superstars have dazzled in the famous yellow as a teenager. On Thursday evening Brazil beat Chile 3-0 in a World Cup qualifier. Among the goalscorers was 18-year-old, newly-signed Chelsea talent, Estêvão, who has now joined an illustrious list of the youngest stars to score for Brazil.

Leading the way as the youngest scorer in the history of the Brazilian national team is none other than the legendary Pelé. The three-time World Cup winner scored his first goal for Brazil in 1957 aged 16 years and eight months. In second is Edú (not the Arsenal one) who scored for Brazil in 1966 aged 16 years and 10 months. Third goes to the iconic striker Ronaldo, who scored his first goal for the Seleção in 1994 when he was 17 years and seven months old. Current Real Madrid talent Endrick put himself fourth on the list when he scored his first national team goal last year aged 17 years and eight months. Coutinho (not the Liverpool one) takes fifth, having scored when he was 17 years and 10 months of age in 1961.

Carvalho Leite is next on the list, scoring when he was 18 years and one month old all the way back in 1930. Entertaining full-back Marcelo is seventh, scoring for Brazil when he was 18 years and three months of age in 2006. After last night’s goal, Estêvão is now eighth in the all-time ranking, being 18 years and four months old. Diego takes ninth, scoring in 2003 when he was 18 years and four months old, whilst the great Neymar completes the top 10 scoring his first goal for Brazil in 2010 aged 18 years and six months.
