As we approach the final day of the Premier League season, we can take a look back and reflect upon what we have witnessed over the past nine months. There’s definitely been no shortage of drama. We can also take a look at which team’s summer transfer business has paid dividends to date. To quantify this from an attacking perspective, we have compiled a list of the summer signings with the most goal contributions (goals + assists) in the Premier League this season. Let’s see who has been firing.

Best attacking numbers from Premier League signings

Leading the way with an impressive, 23 goal contributions in just 24 matches is Chelsea forward João Pedro. It has been a miserable season collectively for the Blues, but individually Pedro has certainly warranted his €64 million fee, which Chelsea paid Brighton last summer. The Brazilian, who was surprisingly left out of his nations’s World Cup squad, has scored 15 goals and provided a further eight assists. in second place is Manchester City’s assist king Rayan Cherki; the Frenchman was signed from Lyon for €37m and has 16 Premier League goal contributions this season – 12 assists and four goals.

Liverpool’s new French forward Hugo Ekitiké managed 15 goal contributions in 28 league matches for the Reds before a nasty injury ended his season. Brentford made winger Dango Ouattara their record signing, and he has had a decent return of 15 goal contributions in 31 league matches for the Bees. Dominic Calvert-Lewin has rediscovered some of his best form since signing for Leeds on a free transfer – he has 15 combined goals and assists in 34 matches. Arsenal’s Viktor Gyökeres has been vilified at times, and it’s certainly true that he’s not always the most pleasing on the eye, but his raw numbers have been decent, and should Arsenal win the Premier League, would have made all the difference. The Swede has 15 goal contributions (14 goals and one assist) in 35 matches.

Everton’s new midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (14 goal contributions) takes seventh, whilst a Manchester United trio complete the top 10. Left-winger Matheus Cunha has managed 14 Premier League goal contributions, right-winger Bryan Mbeumo has achieved 13, whilst striker Benjamin Sesko has managed 12. Meanwhile, for the two most expensive summer signings it’s been a different story. Alexander Isak was signed for €145m and has just four goal contributions in 14 appearances in an injury-ravaged campaign, whilst Florian Wirtz has just nine goal contributions in 32 matches after his €125m move.
