The January transfer market is now officially open, with clubs across Europe looking to get deals over the line to enhance their squads for the second half of the season. Teams are already working tirelessly behind the scenes on identifying targets to sign or loan.

Managers will be constantly assessing their squads with sporting directors and recruitment staff scanning the market for potential deals in the market. A plethora of players will be unhappy with their lack of minutes, with their agents aiming to secure them a move to ensure first-team football for the second half of the season. Manchester United would consider offers for Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho due to mounting difficulties over Premier League financial rules. The academy graduates were viewed as the future of the club but Chelsea are frontrunners to sign Manioo – if he can’t agree a new deal.

One United star that appears destined for a loan exit in January is Marcus Rashford. The England international is out of favour under Ruben Amorim and his representatives have held talks with AC Milan. Manchester City have emerged as serious suitors for Omar Marmoush with Frankfurt eyeing a fee in excess of €60 million to sell the Egyptian sensation.

Meanwhile, Arsenal remain admirers of Nico Williams but a move for the Athletic Bilbao winger will prove difficult due to financial restrictions.
