Manchester United ready to listen to offers? 5 clubs who could sign Marcus Rashford this summer

Following an explosive 2022/23 campaign, in which he scored 30 goals and provided 11 assists, last season was a huge disappointment for Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford. Despite winning the FA Cup, the club underwhelmed as a whole, finishing eighth in the Premier League, and for Rashford – just seven goals in 33 Premier League games represented a miserable individual campaign. In the previous term it really had appeared that Rashford had come of age, and that the then new manager Erik ten Hag had finally got the best out of the talented Englishmen. Now reports suggest it’s ten Hag that’s at the epicentre around why Rashford could leave the club this summer.

Some English media outlets have suggested that Man United will listen to offers for Rashford after a breakdown of his relationship with manager ten Hag, with the new contract for the Dutch boss potentially spelling the end of Rashford’s time at Old Trafford. Last season, there were numerous disciplinary issues around Rashford’s behaviour off the pitch, and it does seem as though a fresh start may be best for both the player and the club. His current market value is €60 million, but it’s thought Man United may expect a little more than that to allow him to leave.

5 clubs who could sign Marcus Rashford this summer

PSG

The club most prominently linked with a move for Rashford over the last 12 months has probably been Ligue 1 champions PSG. With superstar Kylian Mbappé finally leaving the club, they have shifted an almighty wage, and will be looking for players to come in and try and fill the void the Frenchmen will leave. Rashford could fit the bill as a star name who wouldn’t completely break the bank and is most comfortable lining up on the left side of a front three. Moving away from the Premier League could be the fresh start Rashford needs, and the Parisians remain up there with the favourites for his signature.

Barcelona

Whilst 16-year-old Lamina Yamal looks to have the Barcelona right-wing position on lockdown for about the next 15 years, nobody has quite done enough to nail down being Barca’s first-choice left-winger. Neither Ferran Torres or Raphinha set the world alight and have both been linked with moves away from the Camp Nou. That could just make space for Rashford, with loose reports that a swap deal for one of those aforementioned wingers could even be an option. Barcelona don’t quite have the pull they did five or 10 years ago, but the Man United man would still likely jump at the chance to join the European giants.

Arsenal

Not much transfer business goes on between rivals Arsenal and Man United, and when it does it usually causes great controversy – Robin van Persie’s move to Old Trafford in 2012 springs to mind. However, Rashford may just be exactly what the Gunners need this summer. Arsenal are in desperate need of another winger with raw pace to provide competition to Gabriel Martinelli, and Mikel Arteta could just be the coach to bring out the best in the Englishmen. Nevertheless, you’d expect Arsenal would want some assurances that he would come to the club with the right attitude – something that has been key in the recent recruitment structure and general culture at Arsenal.

Aston Villa

If Rashford wants to play Champions League football, stay in England, and avoid signing for a rival club of Man United, then a move to Aston Villa could be on the cards. The Midlands outfit can offer top level European football, and Rashford would add a sprinkling of stardust to their ranks ahead of what will be a long campaign. However, Villa have had reported issues trying to comply with the Premier League Profit and Sustainability (PSR) rules, so that might be a stumbling block in any potential move.

Bayern Munich

German giants Bayern Munich have already been pretty active this transfer window. Completing signings of Hiroki Ito and Bryan Zaragoza, and closing in on Premier League stars João Palhinha and Michael Olise. It seems unlikely at this stage, but they could make it a hat-trick of Premier League acquisitions and bring Rashford to Munich to form a quarter with Harry Kane, Jamal Musiala and Olise. However, that would mean Leroy Sané would probably have to leave the club – something that doesn’t seem hugely probable at this moment in time.
